Stamping Frustration

In my personal opinion, I think some of the employees of the US Postal Service is simply a joke. They literally put the "snail" in "snail mail"... have you ever waited on line to buy stamps or to send packages before?? I have... it's not pleasant... so, instead of standing on line, I went online for my mailing needs (as they suggested). OH MY GAWD... have you tried "shopping" through their websites' list of available stamps?? Anyway, I got through their un-user-friendly website and checked out my shopping cart with close to $50 worth of stamps... that was on January 29th... they only charged me $1 extra for the shipping and handling. Not too bad I thought AND they were going to send it to me 2-3 day PRIORITY MAIL...!! I was like "Shit..! That's cool...!" I even got a confirmation email from them on January 31st saying that the stamps were shipped and even gave me a tracking number!! I was happy.... hmmm... so I waited for my stamps to arrive... and checked the status online every other day....

Today is February 9th... no stamps. No updated status other than the stamps were shipped on the 31st... :( I searched through their website to see if I could find a number to call... I only found a number for an automated answering machine which would tell me the status of my order. I carefully and patiently punched in the 22 digit code and out came the response "This tracking number cannot be found using this automated system" or something to that effect. "Fuck!" I searched through the website again for another number... no more numbers. :( So, I emailed them via their email address and message them using their online form under the "Contact Us" tab of their website. One day later, they emailed me a response and told me to call a different number to check my status. So I did. The female representative checked my order status and told me that they were shipped on the 31st of January. Duh. So, I said, "But it's been over a week and a half. The stamps were sent 2-3 day priority mail." Her response, "It's not a guaranteed service." I'm like, "Shut the fuck up. Not a guaranteed service??? But the pricing is guaranteed???" It's like buying one of those "mystery gifts" wrapped in cheap paper bag wrapping at a sourvenir shop!!! You never know what you are gonna get!! But, those "mystery gifts" are only $1!!! It fucking cost $8.10 to ship a small box via priority mail which carries no guarantee of delivery!!! I still can't comprehend this. So, after hearing her response, I asked to have the order cancelled. She then tells me that I can't cancel the order until February 15th because that's how long I have to wait for the package, that will most likely never arrive, before cancelling it. Go figure.

So, I hit the post office on foot again... the one that's one block away from my house. Apparently the office hours are M-F from 9-5pm and closed on weekends.

Hmmm... where's the closest Pony Express? Anyone?
